Wilkes County Board adopts three‑year strategic plan and revises student medication, epinephrine policies

At its Feb. 9 meeting the Wilkes County Board of Education approved a new strategic plan covering January 2026 through January 2029 and approved updates to two student‑health policies.
The strategic plan, approved on a motion by Jammie Jolly and seconded by Joan Caudill, sets four district priorities: Academic Achievement; Human Resource Development; Culture; and Facilities and Operations. Board materials indicated the plan is meant to guide district initiatives and provide continuity through the three‑year period.
The board also approved revisions to Policy 6125 (Administering Medicines to Students) and Policy 6126 (Emergency Epinephrine Auto‑Injector Devices). The policy changes were described as required to align with updates to G.S.115C‑375.2 and explicitly permit the use of epinephrine nasal spray and other approved delivery systems for emergency administration of epinephrine.
Board members approved both items as presented and did not propose amendments during the meeting; motions were carried by recorded voice vote.
