Wilkes County Board approves Edmentum renewal, procurement updates, roofing contracts and budget amendments

The contract cost will be covered using state textbook funds. The motion was made by Mrs. Jammie Jolly and seconded by Dr. Donna Cotton and was recorded as duly carried.
Child Nutrition Procurement Plan: The board approved an updated Child Nutrition Procurement Plan to align Wilkes County Schools with October 2025 federal guidance that raised the micro‑purchase threshold from $10,000 to $15,000. The motion was made by Mrs. Joan Caudill and seconded by Dr. Donna Cotton.
Roofing and change orders: After a public bid process and withdrawal by the apparent low bidder, the board approved awarding the C.C. Wright Elementary School roofing project to Dry Tech Commercial (base bid noted at $162,610). The board approved a change order for the Millers Creek roofing contract reducing the Nations Roof contract by $28,985 and lowering the contract total from $327,000 to $298,015. The board also approved emergency roof replacement at Wilkes Central High School—Campbell Roofing provided proposals totaling $50,228.32 for the EPDM and shingle sections where leaks persisted. Personnel and trips: The Personnel Report was approved and a promotion (Zoie Johnson to interim teacher at Mulberry Elementary) was recorded. Multiple out‑of‑county and overnight field trips for choruses and wrestling teams were approved as presented.
