The Town Board on April 22 approved a request from the North Castle Revolutionary War 250th Steering Committee for an additional $9,500 to support production and postage costs tied to the July 4 events.
Committee representatives said approximately $8,500 has already been spent and the extra $1,000 would provide modest wiggle room; board members asked whether further town funding would be anticipated. Committee leaders said they intend to seek private donations for additional items and hoped the April request would be the last town-funded ask for this event series.
Supervisor Rendy announced a $500 personal pledge to the committee and said he had begun soliciting local business contributions. Board members voiced strong support for the historical-commemoration efforts and thanked volunteers for organizing programs designed to engage area youth and residents.
What happens next: The town will forward the $9,500 appropriation as approved. Committee organizers will continue to pursue private donations and may return to the board if additional town funds are later required.
