Park Ridge Council adopts employee-pay and towing rules, schedules hearing on zoning-board alternates

The Park Ridge City Council on Jan. 13 adopted two ordinances and introduced a third, the mayor said, handling routine municipal business and several short reports.
The council voted to adopt Ordinance 2026-001, an annual ordinance that establishes salary ranges for certain borough appointees and employees required for auditors, and Ordinance 2026-002, which amends chapter 92-6 of the borough code to update towing minimum standards, including language to allow towing of borough vehicles to New York and to clarify insurance requirements. Both ordinances drew no public comment and passed on roll call with one absence recorded.
Separately, the council introduced Ordinance 2026-003 on first reading; the measure would repeal and replace section 74-7 of the borough code governing establishment, composition and vacancies of the zoning board by increasing the number of alternates from two to three. Clerk Maggie read the ordinance title, and the borough attorney said the change increases alternates from two to three. The council set a public hearing and publication in the Bergen Record, with the hearing scheduled for Feb. 10, 2026.
Votes and motions: each ordinance was moved and seconded during the meeting. The transcript records roll-call votes for the adoption items showing a majority in favor with one member absent (Council member Hoffman was recorded absent earlier in the meeting). The first reading of Ordinance 2026-003 passed on motion and was ordered published with a hearing date.
