Committee approves Public Health accessibility participation, grant re-application and $5,500 accounting contract waiver

The minutes state the award would be $30,873 over two years beginning Oct. 1 and that last year the county used similar funds to buy accessible picnic tables and playground swings for county parks. Mr. Hahn moved and Ms. Kerr seconded the motion to approve the director signing the form; the motion was adopted.
Second, McDougall requested a waiver from purchasing policy to contract with accounting firm McCarthy and Conlon LCP to prepare required Medicaid Home Care cost reports at a cost of $5,500 (included in the department’s 2026 budget). Mr. Hogan moved and Mr. Mumby seconded; the committee adopted the waiver. McDougall explained the cost report is required each year for Medicaid billing.
Third, McDougall requested and the committee approved re-applying for the Public Health Preparedness grant, a federal pass-through, in the amount of $52,099 for the period 7/1/26–6/30/27 (motion by Mr. Hahn, second by Ms. Kerr; adopted).
Why it matters: The accessibility funds provide equipment for inclusive recreation and the preparedness grant supports county-level public health readiness; the cost-reporting contract enables continued Medicaid billing and reimbursement.
