Director of Facilities and Construction Bergie Speaks briefed the Wilkes County Board of Education on construction progress at multiple schools during the Nov. 3 meeting.
At East Wilkes Middle School and Central Wilkes Middle School, crews have put up framework and dried in roofs; electricians are performing rough electrical work. At North Wilkes Middle School contractors were sealing concrete and laying out walls. At North Wilkes High School, the contractor planned to put the roof on and complete rough plumbing during the week of the meeting. Restroom facilities at the football field are near completion pending final inspection, and West Wilkes High School’s field house is nearly ready for final inspection. Work on tennis courts has been delayed by weather, with staff hoping for completion by late the week of the meeting or the following week.
The board received the update during the facilities section of the meeting; no formal vote was required.
