Members engaged in an exercise to establish shared definitions for terms including “Public Art,” “Value,” “Placemaking,” and “Community” to guide longer‑term planning and consistent language in project discussions. Staff then reviewed project updates for a set of ongoing items — Dandelion; 6th‑Cherry‑Trade Parking Deck; Rupert Bell Park Basketball Pavilion & Courts; Brown School Lofts Shade Structure; Brunson Elementary Sculpture; MLK Community Center Mural; Open Call 2025; and Always, All Ways — and stated there were no notable updates since the prior meeting.
The Commission opened the public comment period and recorded that no members of the public spoke. Staff announced upcoming dates including a Jan. 7 MLK Jr. Community Center meeting, Jan. 12 proposals due for the 6th‑Cherry‑Trade Parking Deck, a Jan. 28 pre‑conference public art tour, and Jan. 30 Open Call 2025 proposals due. The meeting adjourned at 3:52 p.m.
