Yadkinville tourism board approves $10,000 budget amendment, pays $10,000 invoice for second wall mural

The Town of Yadkinville Tourism Development Authority approved a $10,000 budget amendment and a separate $10,000 invoice on March 13 to help finance a second wall mural requested by the Wall Mural Committee.
Finance Director Hunter Gooden presented the amendment and invoice during the special meeting; Town Clerk Alex Potts said the total cost of the mural would be "approximately $15,000." Board member Gray Garrison asked about whether there is a contract with the building owners to prevent a future owner from covering the mural, and members discussed seeking additional grant funds to supplement the TDA contribution.
Mr. Gray Garrison moved to approve Budget Amendment #2, which totaled $10,000; Mr. Issac Pelagio seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously, 3-0. The board then approved a $10,000 invoice to Mr. Erick Davis, with Garrison again making the motion and Pelagio seconding; that vote also passed 3-0. The three recorded yes votes were from Jay Martin, Gray Garrison and Issac Pelagio. Meeting minutes list John Willingham and Samuel Stone as absent; Town Clerk Alex Potts and Finance Director Hunter Gooden were present as staff and did not cast votes.
Board members agreed to revisit potential contract protections for murals and to consider other grant funding at the upcoming budget meeting, when further mural funding will be discussed alongside the broader budget.
