Selectboard approves $11,498.24 tanker-repair invoice and $75,000 Highway Fund withdrawal

The Winchester Selectboard approved several budgeted expenditures on April 1, including payment of $11,498.24 to Porter's Diesel for repairs to a Winchester Fire Department tanker and authorization to withdraw $75,000 from the Highway Fund to cover the final payment on a new highway truck.
WFD Chief Barry Kellom told the board the repair involved a valve in the exhaust and that antifreeze had leaked into the exhaust; he said parts were the primary cost. "This repair was for a valve in the exhaust, antifreeze was also leaking into the exhaust and the parts were more than the labor for this job," Kellom said, and he confirmed the cost will be covered by the WFD budget rather than the Capital Reserve.
Selectman Sepe moved to approve the tanker repair payment; Selectman Marsh seconded and the motion carried 5-0. Selectman Sepe also moved to approve withdrawing $75,000 from the Highway Fund to pay the final truck payment; Selectman Trevor Croteau seconded and that motion carried 5-0.
The board also voted 5-0 to accept an updated insurance contract with Primex. Selectman Stephens moved the Primex contract approval and Selectman Croteau seconded.
Selectman Ben Kilanski noted separately that a front plow that had come off a new truck was repaired under warranty and returned to service at the Highway Garage.
