Salisbury board identifies priority roads for 2026 traffic counts

During its April 6 meeting the Salisbury Planning Board marked several locations as priorities for 2026 traffic counts, aiming to capture vehicle volumes on key approaches into town.
Alternate Joe Schmidl said Jeff Nangle had suggested counts at the four major roads that meet at the Route 4 and Route 127 crossing and recommended counting cars entering town. Vice Chair Dobroslav Slavenskoj suggested adding Raccoon Hill Road at the Andover town line because the bridge on US 4 has been reconstructed. Schmidl also identified Whittemore Road as a problem area during school drop-off times.
The board listed the following priority locations for counts: NH 127 at Franklin town line; NH 127 at Webster town line; US 4 at Andover town line; US 4 at Boscawen town line; and US 4 north of NH 127. Secondary sites the board listed for possible counts included West Salisbury Road at US 4; NH 127 west of US 4; Whittemore Road north of US 4; Rabbit Road south of US 4; Raccoon Hill Road at Andover town line; and New Road at Franklin town line.
No formal motion or vote to fund or authorize the counts was recorded; board members identified locations to prioritize when requesting traffic-count data.
