Village council fast-tracks code change and approves park funding application

The ordinance, numbered 2025-3, replaces portions of the village code; the resolution, 1130, authorizes submission of a NatureWorks grant application to support planned park improvements. Council members voted yea on both the suspension and final passage motions; recorded votes showed approval by Paul Lowe, Kim St. Clair, Ed Harlan, Bo Coconis and Mike Nunley.
Taylor Bennett, reporting on the park project, said playground equipment orders have been placed and estimated delivery at 10–12 weeks, with installation expected in late July to early August. Fundraising plans include donor solicitation letters and the offer of “sponsored by” plaques; a $10,000 no‑match grant application was submitted to the Energy Cooperative.
Councilmember Paul Lowe described additional park ambitions, including converting existing tennis courts into pickleball courts with new surfacing, bleachers and lighting to support a senior league and broaden community use. No formal additional funding decisions were made at the meeting beyond the authorization to seek NatureWorks support.
The council will receive further updates as equipment delivery dates firm up and as grant and fundraising outcomes are determined.
