Yadkinville commissioners approve off-duty management agreement and adopt text-message privacy policy

The Yadkinville Board of Commissioners on Jan. 5 approved an Off-Duty Management Services Agreement and adopted a privacy policy that must govern any town text-message communications.
Town Manager Mike Koser requested approval of the Off-Duty Management Services Agreement; Commissioner Monta Davis-Oliver moved, Commissioner Scott Winebarger seconded, and the motion passed unanimously (3-0). Koser then introduced Resolution No. 2026-01, a privacy policy the town will enact before using text messages to remind residents about late water bills or to respond to service requests. The board adopted the resolution unanimously.
Koser also updated the board on other administrative items: staff and the town attorney continue drafting a police-and-fire false-alarm ordinance and will return with details at a future meeting; the Chamber lease requires the town to cover maintenance costs above $100, and staff will compile a repair list for the upcoming budget workshop; the board approved a letter of support for relocating the Yadkin County Board of Elections building; and Koser reported the town has closed out its ARPA funds. There were no commissioner comments.
