The Thorp City Council on Sept. 8 approved advertising for both a part-time police officer at $28 per hour (no benefits) and continued recruitment for a full-time officer.
The Personnel Committee recommended the part-time rate of $28/hour. On a motion by Alderperson Rosemeyer, seconded by Alderperson Enkers, the council approved advertising for both positions; the motion passed 3–0.
Separately, Police Chief Pries submitted quotes for both new and used patrol squad vehicles. Council members asked staff to obtain an additional quote and more information before making a purchase decision. The council approved a related equipment purchase: a printer from EO Johnson for $2,020 with a $60 quarterly fee (see other item).
Council directed staff to continue recruitment and to return with squad-vehicle quotes and recommendations at a future meeting.
