Thorp council approves $80,171 pay application for wastewater upgrades; consultant reports sludge hauling complete

The Thorp City Council on Sept. 8 approved a $80,171 payment to Staab Construction Corporation for the Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrades and heard project updates from engineering consultant Short Elliott Hendrickson (SEH).
On a motion by Alderperson Rosemeyer, seconded by Alderperson Enkers, the council passed Resolution 2025-09-01 authorizing Pay Application #28 for $80,171. The motion passed unanimously, 3–0.
Jeff Nusbaum of SEH told the council that sludge hauling at the wastewater plant has been completed and that contractor Haas Sons will finish the remaining work over approximately three weeks. Nusbaum said SEH has been in contact with the city attorney about a farm lease related to the project and that the electrician has provided information on stub-ups to extend internet service to the sewage treatment facility sites. SEH has requested a change order proposal from the contractor to extend internet service and add an effluent temperature logger.
The approval of Pay Application #28 moves the construction pay cycle forward while SEH and city staff continue to oversee remaining contractor work and any pending contract changes. The council did not amend the pay application amount during the meeting.
The council is scheduled to receive further scope and contract details in future meetings as change orders and project close-out items are finalized.
