Stedman clerk, police and fire give routine reports; board reviews facility quote

During staff reports at the Feb. 5 meeting, Town Clerk Connie Veeder announced that Town Hall will be closed Feb. 16 for Presidents Day and that the Mid‑Carolina Senior Games are scheduled for April 2026; she said the board agreed to send townwide information about the games. The board reviewed, but took no action on, a Spell Construction quote for a boardroom extension.
Veeder also summarized two short state‑of‑emergency proclamations issued Jan. 23–27 and Jan. 30–Feb. 4 that were subsequently rescinded and noted other routine administrative items.
Police Chief Tracy Jackson reported that the Stedman Volunteer Fire Department donated a generator to the police department, which has been connected and is ready for use. Chief Jackson provided activity figures of 16 incidents, 39 citations, 2 felony arrests and 12 misdemeanors. Fire Chief Walker reported a total of 55 calls, including 12 fire calls and 20 medical calls.
Mayor Martin L. Jones announced a Meet & Greet with Senator Tom McInnis on Feb. 18, 8–10 a.m. at the Stedman Community Building; Commissioner Wood noted registration is open for baseball, softball and indoor soccer at the recreation center. The board adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
