The Maywood Board of Education on Feb. 19 scheduled recognitions for Margaret Hassel, who achieved tenure effective January 2025, and for 15 district students who received county or state honors in the arts. Superintendent Michael Jordan also congratulated second-marking-period academic-distinction honorees and previewed Read Across America events with community volunteers, including members of FDU’s men’s basketball team and the Becton National Honor Society.
The minutes also record community appreciation for PTO volunteers and custodial staff following recent snow and ice events. During the public-comment period Jackie Flynn spoke about the county’s 250th anniversary and events planned to mark it.
The recognitions and public remarks were recorded on the meeting agenda and minutes; no formal board action was required for the presentations or the public comment.
