Maywood board approves $2.6 million in referendum payments and a $43,806 HVAC change order

The Maywood Board of Education on Aug. 21 approved multiple payment applications from its referendum account to contractors working on the Memorial School addition and facility upgrades.

President Taylor moved and Ms. Kiely seconded a block motion that included resolutions authorizing progress payments and a change order. Among the approvals, the board authorized Payment Application #3 to TEO Technologies for $1,424,920.00 for the HVAC upgrade at Maywood Avenue School; two payments to Daskall LLC for the Memorial School addition (Payment #5 for $201,453.70 and Payment #6 for $201,987.80); and payment applications to Open Systems Integrators of $122,784.02 and $106,058.22 for the fire‑alarm upgrade. The board also approved Payment Application #2 to USA General Contractors Corp. for $469,978.60.

The board separately approved Change Order #1 for TEO Technologies in the amount of $43,805.85 to relocate a portion of electrical switchgear to the exterior near the transformer, citing space constraints within the basement main office. The change order revises TEO’s contract sum to $4,943,805.85, according to the resolution language presented to the board.

Each payment application was presented with a verification letter from LAN Associates confirming that work completed to date conforms to the contract scope; the resolutions state LAN Associates reviewed the applications and recommended approval. The minutes record these items as approved under the board’s block motion.

The board did not record additional debate or roll-call tallies for each contractor payment beyond the block motion vote, which passed with four affirmative votes and zero abstentions. The meeting adjourned at 7:13 p.m.
