Thorp council hires SEH for City Hall work, OKs MDV reports and routine municipal items

The Thorp City Council on June 9 voted unanimously to hire Short Elliott Hendrickson (SEH) to assist with design, construction and grant work for City Hall renovations. Alderperson Lawcewicz moved to hire SEH and Alderperson Enkers seconded; the motion passed 5–0.
The council also authorized SEH to prepare Operational MDV reports for the Department of Natural Resources at a cost of $7,900; the motion (M/M/S Lawcewicz, Enkers) carried 5–0. The minutes note SEH has prepared these reports in the past.
In routine business the council approved annual liquor, beer and cigarette license renewals but held action on two establishments: 4 Girls Chill (pending delinquencies) and Las Cantinas Mexican Grill (non-operation). The council approved a $1,000 donation to the Thorp Area Chamber of Commerce for the annual fireworks display and authorized advertising to recruit a police officer.
Ald erperson Rosemeyer raised the need to form a committee to fundraise for major repairs at the municipal pool and suggested presenting the committee idea to the Park and Recreation Board. DPW Shackleton earlier reported a leak at the pool and said a Newman Pools representative would inspect next week. A public commenter (recorded as Erice Spencer) asked about procedure for adding an item to the next agenda; Clerk/Treasurer Michele Pogodzinski explained the process.
The meeting also included the introduction of new Police Chief Daryl Pries and discussion of volunteer mowing for the Dog Park; volunteers may sign a form at City Hall to use an available mower.
