Thorp council approves SEH contracts for City Hall design and operations support

The Thorp City Council on Oct. 13 approved two professional services agreements with Short Elliott Hendrickson (SEH) to support a City Hall remodel and operational assistance tied to water treatment work.
Under a 5–0 vote, council authorized SEH to perform preliminary architectural and design services for the City Hall remodel at a cost of $32,000. Council also approved a separate $24,500 agreement for SEH to provide operational assistance, including work to review Wisconsin DNR corrosion-control requirements and chemical feed changes at wells and treatment sites.
Jeff Nusbaum of Short Elliott Hendrickson told the council that sludge hauling at the wastewater treatment plant has been completed and that SEH had proposed an operational-assistance amendment; he said USDA Rural Development had given preliminary concurrence for funding the amendment from the grant contingency. Alderperson Rosemeyer moved to approve the City Hall agreement and Alderperson Enkers seconded; the motion passed 5–0. Alderperson Abramczak moved to approve the operational-assistance agreement and Alderperson Rosemeyer seconded; the motion passed 5–0.
The council’s approval begins preliminary design and cost-estimating steps for the City Hall work and directs SEH to coordinate the corrosion-control review with city staff. No timeline for final design completion was specified at the meeting; SEH and staff will next meet to review DNR requirements and develop the next steps.
