RSU 23 board defers chair election until new member is sworn, accepts resignation and new hires

At a Nov. 12, 2014 meeting at Old Orchard Beach Town Hall, the RSU 23 school board voted unanimously to delay its election for chair and vice chair until newly elected member Michelle Violette is sworn in on Nov. 17; the board plans to hold the election at its December meeting. Superintendent Lloyd Crocker suggested postponing the vote so the new member could participate; Jerome Plante moved to defer and Stuart Hogan seconded the motion.
The board also approved routine governance items by unanimous vote. Carol Marcotte moved and Stuart Hogan seconded acceptance of the Oct. 14, 2014 meeting minutes with corrections. The board accepted a letter of resignation from Mike Menario; Carol Marcotte moved and Stuart Hogan seconded that motion, which the board approved with regret.
Under new business the board approved nominations for new hires: Susan Sinnott‑Curran (Jameson), Catherine Sotir (Loranger) and Michelle Hiltz (position not specified). Carol Marcotte moved the motion to accept the hires and Jerome Plante seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
Stuart Hogan moved and Jerome Plante seconded the motion to adjourn; the board voted to adjourn at the close of the business agenda. Minutes were prepared by transcriber Pam Ouellette and submitted by Superintendent Lloyd Crocker.
