Flood Control District adopts $8.35 million budget in 2-1 vote

The Cochise County Flood Control District board adopted a final budget of $8,349,316 for fiscal year 2026-27 on July 7, carrying the measure in a 2-1 vote at a meeting in Bisbee.

The action came after the chair opened a required public hearing on the budget. A supervisor moved to adopt the district’s final budget and the chair seconded. The supervisor said, “I move that we adopt the final budget of the flood control district for fiscal year 2026-27 in the amount of $8,349,316.” No members of the public signed up to speak during the hearing, and the chair closed public comment before the vote.

The chair read the motion and briefly restated the dollar amount during the vote sequence after an initial misspeaking; the board then recorded two votes in favor and one dissent, and the motion carried 2 to 1. Supervisors Crosby, Hamm and Antonory were noted present during roll call. The board did not record individual voter names on the record for each yea or nay during the roll-call exchange in the transcript; the official tally announced by the chair was 2 yes and 1 no.

Following the vote, the chair announced the Flood Control District meeting was adjourned and that the next meeting would be the jail district.
