The Ossipee Select Board voted to hire New England Milfoil to perform a second, diver-based survey of the Ossipe side of Ossipe Lake to check for invasive milfoil that the state inspection may have missed.
A Select Board member explained that a private group previously funded a supplementary survey that uncovered additional growth; the proposed contractor uses divers to inspect murky, hard-to-see spots. The board discussed funding and agreed the town has grant funds available and can cover any local share from the ETF; a board member estimated the town’s local outlay would likely be under $1,500.
The motion to hire New England Milfoil was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Board members said they or staff would coordinate logistics and follow-up if additional remediation is needed after the survey.
