At about 4:20 p.m. the council approved Resolution #107 authorizing Mayor Josh Ewing to execute a contract to buy 1.84 acres from the Southwest Heritage Foundation for $10,000, contingent on standard legal review. Staff said the town accepted the land survey prepared by Brad Bunker and retained the option of holding a special meeting later in June if the closing could not be completed before the fiscal year end so the purchase could count as part of a cemetery-grant match.
Three minutes later the council approved Resolution #108, a simple plot-line (boundary) adjustment that will combine the town's existing cemetery parcels into a single parcel for record-keeping. Both resolutions passed by unanimous roll call.
Why it matters: consolidating cemetery land and acquiring additional acreage allows the town to record ownership clearly and to meet grant match deadlines tied to the cemetery project.
