Village staff reported maintenance and regulatory items affecting water and wastewater systems at the Aug. 13, 2025 meeting.
Under the wastewater report, the minutes state that “three sided grabs” will be taken from the holding pond for the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and that the holding pond is slated to be drained in September or October. The report also noted consideration of an alert system for the SCADA supervisory system to notify wastewater and waterworks staff in the event of a power outage.
Waterworks operator Ryan Wieselman reported the department is waiting for parts, that Well 5 will be shut down for maintenance (with the fire department to be notified) and that progress on Well 4 will be reported at the next meeting.
Clerk/Treasurer Cole Minsaas told the board the Public Service Commission had notified the village that the 2024 annual report had not been submitted; he said he would contact Hawkins Ash CPAs about their role in the submission. Minsaas also said he had spoken with the DNR about potential grants that could be used to install an asphalt trail through the park. He announced clerk hours would revert to 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday–Friday beginning Aug. 18 and that he had been inputting checks into the budget.
The board discussed an upstairs apartment renovation, noting the village intends to use a previously approved $5,000 for renovations and will continue discussion on flooring at a future meeting; no action was taken on that item. The meeting record shows no formal direction to pursue grant applications at this session; any grant work will require follow-up by staff.
Follow-up items recorded in the minutes include the clerk contacting Hawkins Ash CPAs about the missing PSC filing and a report on Well 4 at the next meeting.
