County staff told commissioners Stacy Lenham's last day in office was the previous Thursday and that state rules require the county to notify the political party and begin the 15-day timeline for the party to submit nominees. "This is the official resolution; Stacy's last day in the office was last Thursday...So today is the day we get to declare a vacancy," a county staff member explained. The staff presentation said Michelle Trabing was recommended by Lenham to temporarily fill the role.
Commissioner (S4) moved to approve Resolution 2026-017 acknowledging the resignation and declaring the vacancy; the motion carried. Staff will send required notices to the Republican party and the board will later select who fills the remainder of the term from the party's nominees if needed.
No additional names or dates for a permanent appointment were set during the meeting; staff described the standard notification timeline.
