Warrensburg memorial garden committee to budget for scholarship, seek sprinkler bid and consider Safe Haven Baby Box

At its June 23 meeting, the Nancy Anderson Park/Children’s Memorial Gardens committee reviewed possible uses for available funds and made several administrative decisions for next year’s budget.
Members decided to budget funds to offer a scholarship next year and to hold a follow-up meeting to work out details — including the scholarship amount, number of awards and eligibility criteria — and to create an application. The committee also agreed to budget for grants again next year and discussed possibly purchasing a Safe Haven Baby Box for the city; no procurement decisions or dollar amounts were recorded in the minutes.
On park maintenance, the committee discussed installing a sprinkler system to improve the garden’s appearance. Craig Conant reported he had reached out to Aaron Trott to obtain a bid so the work could be included in the next fiscal year’s budget. The committee also confirmed plans to install the concrete for the new benches approved for the Eagle Scout project and decided not to install any new walls during the coming year.
Craig Conant said he plans to meet with the city finance contact to revise a few items of budget formatting before the budget is finalized. The committee also confirmed that Pastor Tyler Uptegrove has agreed to speak at this year’s candlelight service. Several bids needed to finalize the budget were still outstanding when the meeting ended. The meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
