The Albany County Board of County Commissioners voted to place two tax measures on the November 3, 2026 general-election ballot: a continuation of the 2% lodging tax and renewal of the general-purpose optional 1% county sales tax (the "5th penny").
County staff presented separate resolutions to place the measures on the ballot. "This is the resolution to place the language to continue that tax on the November ballot," staff said of the lodging-tax item; for the sales-tax item staff said the renewal is similarly scheduled for the November election.
Commissioners moved and seconded both resolutions; each motion carried on a recorded voice vote. The resolutions will place the questions before voters; staff did not identify additional county expenditures tied to passage beyond existing budgeting practices.
Both measures will appear under their respective ballot language as approved in the resolutions; staff said the county will follow standard election procedures to include the measures on the November ballot.
