Hammond trustees approve permits, personnel carryover and CMAR report; scoreboard donation tabled

At its June 8 session the Village of Hammond board took several routine actions and one tabling motion.
The board approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from May meetings, vouchers, payroll, treasurer and vacation reports and seminar requests. Trustee Laurie Gruber moved to approve the consent agenda and Trustee Kim Olson seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
Trustee Laurie Gruber moved to allow Police Chief Dan Orr to carry over 25 hours of vacation; Trustee Kim Olson seconded and the board approved the carryover unanimously. Trustee Lynn Pabst moved to approve a street-closure request from the Hammond Lions Foundation for a grand parade on Aug. 9, 2026; Trustee Kim Olson seconded and the board approved the request. The board also approved a beer-garden permit for Aug. 9 at Parkside (noon–9 p.m.).
A separate request to donate funds for a new high-school scoreboard was tabled pending additional information from the requestors; most trustees supported tabling while Trustee Lynn Pabst disagreed. Trustee Bob Trudell moved and Trustee Kim Olson seconded a motion to approve Resolution 26026081 (Compliance Maintenance Annual Report for 2025); the board approved the resolution unanimously.
The meeting ended after trustees noted a strong turnout at the new library open house and adjourned at 8:05 p.m.
