Chief: NERIS live but fire-reporting not yet functional; department will file NFIRS until Jan. 15

Tamworth’s fire chief told the Board of Firewards that the state’s National Emergency Response Information System (NERIS) is now live but not yet fully functional for fire reporting.
Chief R. Colcord said some features — including the fire-reporting module and synchronization with NHESR — were still being completed. "We’re supposed to start using it, it is not going to be fully functioning until 1/15/26," Colcord said. He told the board he has spoken with the state, which is continuing work on the system.
Until NERIS is fully operational, Colcord said he will prepare and submit the department’s fire reports (NFIRS). He added that members who need to file TEMSIS medical reports can continue to do so in NHESR and do not need to create the fire NFIRS report for those incidents.
The board did not take formal action to change reporting responsibilities; Colcord presented the interim arrangement as an operational plan while the state completes system work.
