Jay Croteau, Selectman, reported details on a proposed new loader for the Highway Department, including warranty terms, price and a trade-in allowance for the current loader. He also discussed culvert work tied to upcoming paving on Old Walpole Road. The board discussed replacing culverts with plastic and the need to clean a deep culvert near the S curves; contractor cleaning was estimated at about $1,100 per day.
Selectmen noted a contractor quote to pave approximately 4,600 feet of Old Walpole Road (average 22-foot width). The project was budgeted at $125,000 but the submitted extended footage quote was $153,900. Jay Croteau said he will follow up about the budgeted amount and an approximate start date.
The board also referred pavement holes at the end of Malcolm Drive and on Walpole Road to the Highway Department for repair, and agreed to notify the Highway Department about stop-sign placements at Cider Mill and Wilber Road. Separately, they decided to notify the New Hampshire Department of Transportation about an absent stop sign at the junction of Crane Road and Route 12A.
The discussion closed with plans for the selectmen to obtain pricing and schedule information; no formal purchase decision for heavy equipment or paving was made at the meeting.
