DPW outlines spring and summer road work; paving set to begin in June

Durwin Clark, who attended the May 19 selectmen meeting to review spring and summer goals for the Department of Public Works, told the board that signs ordered for town roads have arrived and installation is planned for the week following the meeting.
Clark said crews will move the remaining dirt piles and will rake and regravel Mine Ledge Road and clean the asphalt area at the S-curves. "Asphalt to be chopped beginning of June with paving to follow with good weather with intention to pave to end of Davis’s garage," Clark reported to the selectmen.
He said the town expects to estimate overlay paving for Hallwood Drive and Wilber Road in 2026. The board also discussed a proposal for adding mat and gravel to Farm Road leading to Chickerings, and drainage work near a barn off Farm Road.
MME has agreed to loan a Harley rake and roller for work on Farm Road, Clark said, and culverts will be cleared by pressure washing; the culvert at the S-curve was described as unusually deep and may require additional work.
No vote or formal funding decision was recorded during the meeting; the selectmen received the DPW update and placed operational items on future work schedules.
