Selectmen approve minutes, sign permits and set hearing date for Blue Towers

At their July 7 meeting, Sugar Hill selectmen unanimously approved the June 30 meeting and nonpublic minutes, signed permit forms and an agreement for a community trail project, noted a Shoreland Permit filing for Streeter Pond Drive, and set a Planning Board conceptual hearing for Blue Towers on Aug. 6.
Sugar Hill Selectmen convened July 7 and carried out routine town business, approving prior meeting minutes, signing permit forms and an agreement for a community trail project, and setting schedules for several upcoming actions.
Selectman Dick Bielefield moved to approve the June 30, 2025 meeting minutes; Selectman Rusty Talbot seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Bielefield then moved to approve the nonpublic minutes of June 30, seconded by Talbot; that motion also passed unanimously. Town Administrator Jennifer Gaudette recorded the actions and the meeting attendance, which listed Selectmen Chris Ellms, Dick Bielefield and Rusty Talbot and guests Judy and Larry Sawyer.
The board received the latest U199 updates and noted that a tour date had changed; the Sawyers and Selectman Talbot will coordinate with Community Liaison Matt Koehler to reschedule. Gaudette reported receipt of a Shoreland Permit Application filed with DES for Kevin Lally concerning property on Streeter Pond Drive (Map 203, Lot 46); the notice was entered into the record and no formal action was taken at the meeting.
Gaudette presented the monthly activity report from Littleton Fire & Rescue, which showed two calls in June that were for Sugar Hill. The Selectmen signed permit forms—subject to the town building officer’s review and any conditions—for a Cummings Family Trust addition/remodel on Map 216, Lot 7, and for Kyle Kinsey for a generator on Map 227, Lot 9.
The board signed an Agreement Relative to the Profile Community Trail Project, indicating town endorsement of the agreement as presented. Members also reported that the low-bid call for the Crane Hill work went well and that the contract will be confirmed this week; Gaudette said she is continuing related banking work with Woodsville Bank.
Gaudette said 603 Solar will replace a motherboard on Tuesday, July 15, as part of scheduled maintenance. She also announced that the Meetinghouse will be closed from Aug. 12 through Aug. 29 for work on the sills. The Planning Board will hold a conceptual hearing on Aug. 6, 2025, for a project called Blue Towers; Gaudette said all town boards are expected to attend that hearing.
The board acknowledged thank-you letters from the Franconia Food Pantry, the Center for New Beginnings, and the Franconia Notch Chamber of Commerce related to 2025 funding. With no further business, Selectman Rusty Talbot moved to adjourn, seconded by Selectman Dick Bielefield; the meeting adjourned at 5:57 p.m. The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, July 14, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the Crapo Building.
