Zoning board appoints new member, names temporary chair

The Town of Temple Zoning Board of Adjustment appointed Steve Andersen as a full member and Gary Scholl as an alternate and unanimously nominated Emily Sliviak as chair until the first meeting after town meeting.

Allan Pickman moved to appoint Andersen as a full member and Scholl as an alternate; James Stein seconded, and the board voted a unanimous aye. The board later approved Sliviak’s temporary chair nomination on a unanimous vote, with Pickman remaining vice chair.

Andersen, who had submitted a letter of interest, told the board he is familiar with zoning and has business ties to Temple and said he would not have a conflict if seated. "I know zoning, have business in Temple, but it is nothing that would compromise my position on the Board," Andersen said, adding he is "passionate about the ZBA being an organization that is the last line of defense for neighbors." The transcript indicates Gary Scholl was unable to attend but was appointed as an alternate by the Select Board/board process described at the meeting.

The board also approved minutes from prior meetings by unanimous vote. Members discussed forthcoming housekeeping tasks: Nicholl will send the ZBA its 2025 budget spending data and Pickman will prepare the ZBA report for the town report.
