Selectboard: Maximov sale requires cleanup; Marcy and Cheney properties show improvement

Town staff updated the Stratford Selectboard on June 16 about enforcement and compliance at three junkyard properties and on related public-works policy. Suzanne Goulet told the board the Maximov property is in transition and that the sale agreement requires the property be cleaned up as part of the transaction. She said the Marcy property has shown significant improvement, including removal of a vehicle and a camper, and the Cheney property has been cleaned; the board will monitor those parcels to ensure compliance.
Goulet emphasized that no road work—including pothole filling or other alterations—should be done without prior discussion and approval from Road Agent Mike Lynch, and she reported that Lynch has submitted a road log to keep the board informed of recent activity. The board advised against installing an additional speed sign on Bog Road at this time.
The board postponed discussion of the Christie property because Clayton MacDonald was not present; the Selectboard said it will revisit that matter when the chairman returns in a few weeks. The updates were presented as informational and the board indicated it will continue periodic checks and follow up as needed.
