East Haven Civil Service Commission certifies two hires, schedules detective exam

The East Haven Civil Service Commission on Feb. 9 certified two personnel hires, confirmed a detective exam schedule and deferred approval of prior minutes.
The commission voted unanimously to certify the employment of Brian Parzyck in the position of Police Officer C, effective March 26, 2026. The motion to certify Parzyck was made by Richard DePalma, a commission member, and seconded by Prisco Monico; the vote was recorded as unanimous among members present.
Commission members also noted that 15 officers are scheduled to participate in Detective #15, which is expected to take place in April. The commission recorded that candidates will have a 60-day study period to prepare for the exam.
On matters for the Fire Department, the commission said there is no current vacancy for the fire marshal position and that it will wait to establish an eligibility list until a vacancy exists.
The commission certified the employment of Tyler Steskla (transcript contains an alternate spelling, "Stekla") for the position of Account Clerk II, effective Feb. 9, 2026. That certification was moved by Richard DePalma and seconded by Prisco Monico; the vote was unanimous.
The commission deferred reading and approval of the meeting minutes to its next monthly meeting. The session adjourned at 7:08 p.m.
