Pompton Lakes open-space update: park project out to bid, bridge delayed; Pumpkin Day sold out

On recreation, board members discussed exploratory measurements for potential pickleball courts at the Hirschfield/Hershfield site; initial measurements indicate one tree might need removal and the school tennis schedule limits converting existing tennis courts. Goss reported that a contract to begin tree clearing at an unspecified park area "has been approved," and the board indicated there had been issues with an original contractor and that bids were being reissued so work can proceed.
Separately, the board announced Pumpkin Day will be held Sunday and is sold out. One member recounted vendor figures stated at the event planning meeting: approximately 148 vendors, 219 spots and 38 food vendors; organizers expanded vendor placement across the bridge and added about 20 vendor slots by reorganizing Borough Hall returns. The meeting record indicated a longer fireworks show this year (roughly a 30-minute display) and that the Elks organization will operate as a cooling center.
