Slinger, Wis. — The Slinger Redevelopment Authority on June 3 reviewed proposed changes to land use and signage rules for the Village Center and discussed ideas to enhance downtown streetscapes, officials said.
Community Development Director Dyann Benson presented four items for the board’s consideration: revisions to land uses within the Village‑Center District; associated rezonings and updates to the comprehensive plan; revisions to the sign code; and a Façade Program Manual that would include a creative‑sign section. Benson told the board the land‑use and sign‑code revisions are scheduled for review at the Planning Committee meeting in June, with a public hearing expected in July, and she praised the board for work completed over the past five months.
Board members then brainstormed goals for Redevelopment District No. 2 and the Village Center. Members identified potential redevelopment locations and public‑realm improvements such as adding planters and upgrading street lighting to improve pedestrian amenities and visual appeal. Village Administrator Margaret Wilber noted that VandeWalle and Associates had presented conceptual plans previously and said she would provide those materials to the board ahead of the next meeting.
The board also handled routine business. Board member Dianne Retzlaff moved to approve the minutes of April 1, 2026; Sherry Schaefer seconded, and the motion passed. Dean Otte moved to adjourn at 8:49 a.m.; Corey Foerster seconded and the meeting was adjourned.
Next steps: staff will supply the Planning Committee materials and the VandeWalle concepts at a future meeting, and the board expects a public hearing on the proposed sign‑code and land‑use changes in July.
