Friends donate $5,000; Slinger dog park set to gain shade, benches and other amenities

Director Tony Director Dobson told the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Board on May 11 that crews will meet with the fence company Tuesday to begin string‑lining the perimeter of the dog park and that the Friends of the Slinger Dog Park donated $5,000 to fund slit‑and‑drill seeding of the area, which was completed last weekend.
Board member Jennie Stonehouse outlined planned amenities funded or supported by the Friends group: three shade structures, nine benches, two trees and up to three dog‑waste stations. Stonehouse said they are hoping to be open late this summer.
No formal vote was recorded at the meeting; staff indicated work is underway and that opening will depend on fence completion and final site readiness.
