Cedar Hill approves park and city facility improvements including Arlo subscription and softball gates

Mayor John Edwards presented a proposal to enter into an annual subscription agreement with Arlo to add security cameras at the park and discussed additional security devices for City Hall. Mayor Edwards moved to approve the subscription and purchase; Commissioner Frank Kirby seconded. Roll call vote: Commissioner Kirby, Vice Mayor Marquita Pettus and Mayor Edwards voted yes and the measure passed 3-0.
Separately, Mayor Edwards presented a Watts quote to install two gates on the softball field fence to allow Jr. Pro increased parking and to remove a dead tree adjacent to the fence. Mayor Edwards moved to approve the expense; Vice Mayor Pettus seconded. The commission approved the project 3-0.
City Recorder Gayle Bowman said repainting the bathrooms and office areas at City Hall was needed and presented a Watts quote. Mayor Edwards moved to approve the expense; Commissioner Frank Kirby seconded. The roll call vote was recorded as unanimous and the expense was approved.
The commission debated options for trimming or removing a park tree after reviewing multiple quotes and an evaluation of the tree. After discussion the commission voted not to move forward with trimming or removal at this time; Mayor Edwards moved, Vice Mayor Pettus seconded, and the motion to deny the project passed 3-0.
The commission also discussed pressure washing and painting the pavilion; rather than approve immediate work the commission agreed to solicit new quotes so the work can be scheduled if a contractor becomes available.
City Manager Kevin Breeding separately told the commission an update on the tornado siren system and said delivery and installation are expected in the coming weeks. The minutes do not list contract amounts for the Watts quotes or the Arlo subscription; the record shows authorization to proceed for the camera subscription and the facility expenditures but not the dollar values.
