Cedar Hill adopts 2026–27 budget and approves 2025–26 amendment

Mayor John Edwards moved to approve Ordinance 2026-02, adoption of the annual budget and tax rate for fiscal year 2026–27; Vice Mayor Marquita Pettus seconded the motion. In a roll call vote, Vice Mayor Pettus, Commissioner Frank Kirby and Mayor Edwards voted yes, and the ordinance carried 3-0.
Earlier in the meeting the commission considered and approved Ordinance 2026-01, the second and final reading of Budget Amendment #1 for fiscal year 2025–26. Mayor Edwards moved the measure and Commissioner Kirby seconded; roll call votes were recorded as Yes from Commissioner Kirby, Vice Mayor Pettus and Mayor Edwards, passing the amendment 3-0.
City leaders said revenues and expenses for May and year-to-date cash on hand were reviewed as part of the meeting’s financial briefing. City Manager Kevin Breeding was present for the report; the transcript records review of monthly financials but does not specify the dollar amounts discussed.
Both ordinances were approved on second reading by unanimous roll call vote. The commission did not record a separate effective date in the meeting minutes.
