Hewitt board approves Ordinance 50 and greenlights local road and ditch repairs

Later in the meeting Wienke moved and Cassie seconded approval of the ordinance’s third review/reading; that motion also carried, completing the third reading of Ordinance 50.
On Meidl Lane the board discussed options including cleaning ditches, reseeding, planting fast-growing grass and installing a berm on the east side. After discussion the board accepted a bid from Blades Lawn Care to repair the area along Meidl Lane; Trustee Wienke made the motion and Trustee Horn seconded.
The board also addressed a Maple Lane cross culvert, discussing removal or capping and noting the village does not have waterway access off Korth’s fields. Trustee Dan Sommers moved to cap the cross culvert; Horn seconded and the motion carried.
For 9th Street repairs the board accepted a bid from Doine Excavating to patch the roadway. Trustee Sommers made the motion and Trustee Horn seconded; the motion carried. The minutes record the awards and approvals but do not list contract amounts or the vote tallies.
