Hewitt plans crack-filling, chip sealing and shoulder repair; bids expected by March

The Village of Hewitt Board discussed its 2026 street maintenance program and asked staff to pursue bids with results expected by the March meeting.
Mike Draxler reported that planned projects for 2026 include crack-filling on village streets, chip sealing on Second Street, Kaylee Court and Maple Street, shoulder repair on Yellowstone, and ditching on 4th Street as funding allows. He said he hopes to have contractor bids available by the March meeting.
Wood County is replacing the stop-sign post at 11th Street and Yellowstone. The board also reviewed the season's snowplowing, including county plowing at the east end of Yellowstone, and discussed shoulder and ditching work subject to available funds.
The board said a road-committee meeting will be scheduled in late March or early April to review bids and project prioritization; final contract awards were not made at the Jan. 14 meeting.
