The Essex Planning and Zoning Commission adopted the Town of Essex 2026–2036 Plan of Conservation & Development at its July 7 meeting after a final review of edits.
Town Planner John Guszkowski reviewed revisions to the wastewater section and edits to the Bokum Corner corridor language. Health Director Lisa Fasulo requested that CT-DEEP be added alongside CT-DPH in references; Sustainable Essex representative Stacy Abbott emphasized that the committee is volunteer-based with no budget to implement recommendations and described the Plan as aspirational.
Chairman Russ Smith moved to adopt the Plan as proposed and amended; the motion passed unanimously. The Commission discussed the effective date and final layout; staff will complete required filings and continue coordination with state agencies on Harbor Management and related elements.
