Board members asked about the potential for a future change of use that could increase wastewater generation and whether the building contains floor drains that could introduce washwater to the system. Those concerns were recorded during the discussion but the board approved the variance.
Paul LeBlanc moved to approve the variance allowing a tight tank at the property; Judy Schneider seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Why it matters: approving a tight tank in a high-groundwater, floodplain location limits onsite disposal and keeps waste contained, but it can constrain future uses of the building and requires care to prevent illicit connections or discharges. Board members’ questions indicate they want clarity on future-use risk and floor drains before future changes are permitted.
