CUSHING, Maine
At its March 24 meeting the Cushing Board of Selectmen signed a series of municipal appointments and elected Alton Grover as chairman.
Appointments signed include Arthur Kiskila as Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director; Scott Bickford as Code Enforcement Officer and Plumbing Inspector; Stephen Stimpson as Animal Control Officer; Austin Donaghy as Harbormaster and Rescue Squad Director; Helen Darmara as Assistant Rescue Squad Director; Peter McBean as Deputy Fire Chief; Anthony Winchenbach as Assistant Fire Chief; Robert Ellis as Planning Board member; Irene Vinal as Tax Collector and Deputy Treasurer; and Lisa Young as Town Clerk, Treasurer and Deputy Tax Collector.
In a recorded motion, Selectman Laurie Haynes moved and Selectman Martha Marchut seconded to elect Alton Grover chairman of the Board of Selectmen; the motion carried 3-0-1 with Grover abstaining.
Why it matters: These appointments establish who holds several operational and oversight roles in town government, and the board's selection of a chairman sets leadership for future selectmen meetings.
Next steps: Appointees assume their duties as designated; the minutes do not list staggered terms or reappointment dates.
