Gunnison County commissioners adopted the 2026 Gunnison County Strategic Plan on June 16 after staff and commissioners confirmed several minor edits.
County Manager Matthew Birnie said staff attempted to capture comments from prior work sessions. Chair Laura Puckett Daniels confirmed the plan's 300-unit housing target includes the Whetstone development and that no additional housing units were being proposed at this time. Commissioners discussed where to reflect a recent survey comment and agreed on small wording edits.
"Commissioner Puckett Daniels did confirm that the 300 housing units include Whetstone and no additional units are being considered at this time," the minutes record. Commissioner Elizabeth Smith moved adoption and Commissioner Jonathan Houck seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
