Hilbert board approves minutes, reports, licenses and security upgrades; closed session held with no action

At its Aug. 12 meeting the Village of Hilbert Board approved routine minutes and treasurer reports, accepted claims, approved operator licenses and a Temporary Class B license for Local Lounge, authorized security camera upgrades at Village Hall (~$6,388.83), reviewed Fire Department updates, and held a closed session with no subsequent action.
The Village of Hilbert Board met Aug. 12 and approved a set of routine administrative items, accepted department reports, and authorized several operational measures.
On the consent and administrative side, the board approved the Village Board meeting minutes and Fire Department minutes, accepted the Village treasurer’s report and the Fire Department and First Responder treasurer reports, and approved paying the claims presented. Movements on these items were made by board members including Collins, A. Loose, M. Loose, Pulley and Hunter and were carried as recorded in the minutes.
Missy Kieso presented operator-license applications and the board approved licenses for Amanda Haese and Laila Cornelius. The board also approved a Temporary Class B license to allow Local Lounge to serve beer and Carbliss outdoors between 3rd and 4th Streets for the 'Hilbert After Dark' event on Aug. 23.
Kim Plate proposed upgrading and adding security cameras at Village Hall with an estimated cost of $6,388.83; the board approved the security upgrades. Fire Chief Loose reported five recent fire calls, a free vehicle-and-gear cleaning service offered by a restoration company, discovery of a shaft for an old fire truck that will be installed to return the truck to service, and that a new truck will be ready by year-end and picked up after Jan. 1, 2026.
President Tom Roehrig recognized Lisa Krueger, who updated the board on the Veterans Memorial project; Krueger said she has received quotes and the item will be placed on the September agenda. The board then entered a closed session under S.19.85(1)(e) to deliberate or negotiate public property or funds; the board reconvened to open session by roll-call vote and no action was taken after the closed session. The meeting adjourned at 7:17 p.m.
