Hilbert board reorganizes committees, appoints Plan Commission members, dissolves two dormant committees

At its April 15 meeting the Village of Hilbert Board approved several organizational items and routine measures, including committee reorganization, Plan Commission appointments and the dissolution of two long-dormant committees.
President Tom Roehrig presented a proposed reorganization of committee membership; Board member Collins moved to approve the new committee rosters, Board member A. Loose seconded, and the motion carried. Collins also moved to appoint M. Loose, Hunter, Pulley and citizen Jim Sweere to the Plan Commission; the motion was seconded by A. Loose and carried.
Staff member Kieso presented monthly correspondences and reports and the Board accepted minutes for multiple committees and approved treasurer reports. The Board also voted to pay presented claims (motion carried) and accepted a legal-invoice summary for information.
The Health Committee minutes were accepted and Kieso reported the chassis invoice payment of $119,696 for the new fire truck had been sent to avoid a $1,800 late fee; the balance will be paid when the truck arrives, currently estimated for January 2026. Fire Chief Loose had earlier said the truck manufacturer reported the vehicle is "ahead of schedule & will be ready in January, 2026." The fire department additionally received a $6,000 grant from the Chilton Area Community Foundation to help purchase new boots.
The board adopted Resolution 2025-04 to dissolve the Purchase & Claims Committee and the Elections & Judiciary Committee, which staff said had not met in years. The resolution passed by roll call with yes votes from A. Loose, Collins, Hunter, M. Loose, Pulley, Gehl and Roehrig. The board also approved event dates for the Farmer's Market and After Dark, and granted permission for outside entertainment requests from 57 Saloon for the 2025 season.
The meeting concluded with approval to place an ad to recruit seasonal park help and the adjournment at 7:18 p.m.
