The Hilbert Village Board on Feb. 11 received notice from the Town of Rantoul about a Planning & Zoning request to change land use on Plappert Road and later went into closed session to deliberate property negotiations.
President Tom Roehrig told the board the Town of Rantoul seeks to change a parcel owned by Pat Schaffer from farmland to lots; the parcel borders village land, which is why Hilbert received notification. The board discussed the notice but did not take public action on it during the open portion of the meeting.
Under statutory authority S.19.85(1)(e), the board then convened into closed session “for deliberating or negotiating the purchase of public properties, the investing of public funds, or conducting other specified public business, whenever competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session.” A roll call vote was taken to enter closed session and carried.
After the closed-session discussion the board reconvened to open session and the minutes record that no formal action was taken following the closed session. The meeting adjourned at 7:26 p.m.
