Hilbert board approves engineering contract for roughly $5 million wastewater upgrade

Board members did not set a construction timetable at the meeting; Plate said the village "needs to get the ball rolling" on engineering. The approval begins the formal planning phase, which the village indicated will include applications for grant funding and more detailed cost estimates ahead of any borrowing or construction decisions.
The board took no vote on borrowing at this meeting; the contract covers engineering services only. Next steps identified at the meeting include grant applications and further engineering deliverables to come before the board.
